DANIELE ROSTI and CAMPOCHIARENTI WINERY AND VINEYARD

The Campochiarenti Estate is situated in the old village that has the same name along the Francigena road between Poggibonsi and San Gimignano in the Siena province.

The documents of the monastery of "Santa Maria in Firenze" say that the origin of Campochiarenti is around the X century when an important monastery was present in the village. During the following century, the monastery was modified many times till the XVII century when people started to flee from the country, and a slow decay began until the 1980s. The new owners carried out a huge restoration to restore the old architectural layout, in order to renew the village and to repair the old Romanic building.

The Rosti family is the owner of the winery since 1977 and has been started the production and bottling of high-quality wines following the Tuscany tradition and innovating to search for the best product quality. New vineyards were planted using different clones of the traditional varieties. A lot of attention is dedicated to the vines growing, starting from the planting till the optimal pickup time.

The direct responsibility for production and sales is taken by the owners. The wines produced in this estate are classified as DOCG (Denomination of Origin Controlled and Granted), DOC (Denomination of Origin Controlled), and IGT (Typical Geographic Indication, named also VQPRD Wines of Quality Produced in Determined Regions). The aim of these wines is to evoke the "terroir" of Tuscany, the specific microclimate of this region, in order to be easily recognized as products of this Italian area. The 14 hectares of vineyards are located around San Gimignano and Poggibonsi in a specific area ideal to grow autochthonous grape varieties, in addition to the most famous international varieties.
